                    Mt Wood
back to network index            Historic homestead on Sturt National Park

Mt Wood  was one of several station properties which have been amalgamated to create the region's magnificent Sturt National Park.  The park is an important area for the protection of the arid landscape of western New South Wales.

Visitors to Sturt National Park can enjoy the self-guided loop drives accessible by 2WD or  4WDs trekking.  Walks are possible at Fort Grey, Olive Downs, Dead Horse Gully and to the Mt Wood summit.  Camping fees apply.

he  Mt Wood  Historic Homestead provides quality accommodation in a historical setting, or at the nearby shearer's quarters. Both have kitchen and bathroom facilities.

A nearby out-door museum area contains displays of  machinery used in the early days of the pastoral industry.

Mt Wood is located just 27 km from Tibooburra.
