Depot Glen is located on
Preservation Creek 14 km west of Milparinka.
From Milparinka take the Hawker Gate Road which veers to the right as you come across the Evelyn Creek causeway. Travel past the Milparinka Sport's Grounds to the right, and continue along the same road until meeting the sign posted intersection. Turn to the right, passing a short distance ( kilometre of so) until you reach another road intersection. Continue straight ahead for a hundred or so metres. You will meet the creek straightahead, but turn back to the left ( west) and follow along for another hundred or so metres. You need to get out of the car and walk the last short distance. To get to Poole's Grave retrace your route back to the previous intersection, take the turn through a gate and follow the track down toward an area defined with a pine railed fence, noting the turn-off to Sturt's Cairn to the left. To reach Sturt's Cairn from Poole's Grave, backtrack a short distance, and take the track to the north for 6.5 km. You should now be at the base of Mt Poole. Follow the link above for a map. |
