![]() |
Theldarpa is located 47 kilometres from Milparinka on the Hawker Gate Road. If arriving from Milparinka take the road which leads west toward the Depot Glen turn-off, but continue straight on over the white quartz-covered hills. After 33 kilometres you will cross the Theldarpa boundary cattle grid. Continue on through two station paddocks ( still on the main road). The road turns slightly after crossing a shallow creek and starts to climb a gentle rise. At the top of the rise is a white 200 L drum ( the mail-box). Take the track which turns off the main road to the right ( to the north) and following along the graded road, through two gates, one near the mail box, one a kilometre or so on. The Yandama Creek is clearly visible to the north. Cross the two arms of the creek and follow around the dam bank. As you emerge from the trees on the creek the homestead will be visible immediately ahead. Call in and see Sarah or David upon arrival. Should they not be available please make your way to your accommodation and catch up later. Campsites are accessible by taking a secondary track (signed) to the left, and, keeping to the left of the concrete tank, veer left down to the creek. The Shearers' Quarters are located at the far rear and left of the homestead complex. Keeping the station sheds and tanks on your right drive straight across to the quarters and make yourselves at home. There are few rules but, please, avoid driving over or along either the airstrip, especially when it is wet, or the furrows nearby which are intended to aid rehabilitation of the area. If arriving from the west, ie via the western route from Smithville ( dog fence) or from Cameron Corner, Theldarpa is located just 6.5 km east of the Yandama homestead which is right on the Hawker Gate Road. At the mail box turn left and follow the above instructions. UHF frequency 20.
